My photo
Gail was born in Sydney Australia and relocated to Wilmington, NC in 2007. She primarily works in acrylics and paints in the style of contemporary abstraction, using bright colors and many textures. Her travels throughout America have provided the inspiration for her most recent collection, "Painting America". .................. September 15th 2010 After three amazing years in Wilmington N.C., coming back to a country town on the Mid North coast of N.S.W. Australia was like stepping onto another world. But here I am after seven months still unpacking and settling in. My studio is a three bay American Barn nestled amongst the gum trees on my five acre property on the Wilson River near Port Macquarie, at the moment I share it with frogs, furniture, cars and bikes, but it won't be to much longer before '' Gum Scrub Studio Gallery" will be up and running. STUDIO NEWS

Lots been happening !!! New projects started and old ones updated !!
Last week was full of new beginnings----2 new paintings, exploring the possibility of a Giclee' line, of which I have ordered samples, and my most ambitious project (for me anyway) the start of my book--PAINTING AMERICA-- a chronicle of my work since living here in the States, explaining visually, through paintings, my interpretation of photographs taken on my travels.

I'm surrounded by birds in my studio !! Started these Cranes months ago--thought I'd get them finished---couldn't stand them looking at me anymore !

Check for updates on these latest projects.

STUDIO NEWS

WHATS BEEN HAPPENING !!!

Well !!! I've started to experiment more with my mixed media, I'm excited with the idea of playing with different textures and mediums, found objects and any old thing I can find in Op shops or by the side of the road, and creating from the " inner self"----just letting it happen, who know where you end up !!

I've also been playing with Encaustic --- painting with wax. I finished a couple of pieces before the weather got too hot, looking forward to doing more when its a little cooler.

In the meantime still doing my thing with canvas and Acrylic paint, bright and colourful-----its my thing !!

Keep checking for more updates.
